SAN DIEGO, Calif., April 23, 2026 — AscentX Medical, Inc., a company developing regenerative biomaterials for minimally invasive applications, said it has appointed three members to its Scientific Advisory Board as it advances its lead programs in gastrointestinal and urologic indications. The appointees are Dr. Iqbal Sandhu, who will serve as chairman of the board, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle, and Dr. Mark Gromski. All product candidates referenced in this release are in preclinical development and have not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory authority. The appointments come as Ascentx continues development of its lead program, G125, a biomaterial being evaluated for potential use in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), as well as U125, a related program targeting stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
Dr. Sandhu brings deep expertise in gastrointestinal therapies and clinical program development. Dr. Lemperle is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to biomaterials and injectable technologies. Dr. Gromski, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of Advanced Endoscopy at Indiana University, specializes in advanced minimally invasive procedures. The Company stated that the advisory board will play a critical role in advancing preclinical development, informing clinical study design, and shaping procedural strategy as the program progresses.
Ascentx is developing a platform of regenerative biomaterials designed to support tissue structure and function. The materials are being evaluated for multiple potential applications, including gastrointestinal, urologic, and soft-tissue indications. G125 is being developed for delivery to the lower esophageal sphincter via endoscopic techniques and is currently in advanced preclinical development. U125 applies the same underlying platform to urologic use.
